The key role of the common strategy for the FTB families is to analyse the flight test needs for the Future LR aircraft, translate these needs to (one of) the three testbed families already identified, and to provide a conceptual view on further FTBs, if needed.

Different FTBs to cover all flight test needs
The word “family” indicates that a single FTB to cover all flight test needs may be inconvenient (cost, time) or even not feasible. It also indicates that the different FTBs are developed from a common strategy, with optimal use of scaling, modularity, reconfigurability in hardware/software, re-use of designs and components etc.
